How and When to Use the “Compress After Rollup” Option

Learn when you should and should not use the Compress After Rollup check box in the InfoCube Manage Data Targets screen.

The Compress After Rollup option is a check box on the Rollup tab of the InfoCube’s Manage Data Targets screen (Figure 1). I’ll explain the InfoCube feature Compress After Rollup, when to use it, and how it affects system performance.

When used appropriately, Compress After Rollup can save you processing time. However, if this feature is used inappropriately, in some business situations, a significant sacrifice in back-end processing time could occur.
